Mapping (Climate) Resilience
Participatory Research Project
Mapping Climate Resilience is a field-based research project conducted in Guatemala’s Maya Biosphere Reserve, working with Q’eqchi’ women on land use, food systems, and climate resilience, in collaboration with Fundación ProPetén.
The project examines how women’s everyday land- and food-based practices contribute to community resilience in a forest frontier region shaped by conservation policies, deforestation pressures, and climate variability.
The research involved participatory counter-mapping and semi-structured interviews conducted on the ground in rural Q’eqchi’ communities to document women’s spatial knowledge, land use practices, and climate adaptation strategies.
Research outputs available upon request (English and Spanish).
